Apple TV+ is to break the bank with an upcoming critically lauded series not a single member of the public is expected to watch.
We’ve heard that the streamer will spend more than $1B on the first season of a new science-fiction fantasy show that, despite well praised performances and impressive production values, will not make even the most minute dent in ratings or have any lasting cultural impact.
While Apple TV+ is remaining tight-lipped about the details, B&A understands that the series isn’t based on a piece of recognizable IP or anything currently in the public domain with an already established fanbase. Insiders also tell us that producers are lining up an enviable ensemble cast of A-list stars, the status of which will somehow still fail to create any remotely tangible excitement, plus some of the most established and award-winning creatives behind the camera, all of whom will somehow neglect to include the project on their future resumes.
“We categorically expect zero people to watch a single second of this phenomenally expensive show,” said Apple TV+ in the statement. “It’s very exciting to be a part of this groundbreaking journey.”
